Beauty Essentials: Laura Mercier Skincare Essentials Collection

Let’s talk skincare. With oily skin, I’m always looking for products that help me stay sun-kissed, but that don’t make me look shiny. In June I started using the new Laura Mercier skincare collection, dubbed the Skin Essentials, and have found a handful of new favorites. Scroll down to learn more about my favorites from this skincare collection!

Laura Mercier Skincare Essentials Review

The last three months of this stay-at-home order has completely changed my beauty routine. While I once wore a full face of makeup everyday to the office, I now rarely apply foundation more than once or twice a week. Of course, the results have been amazing for my skin. But, it wasn’t just the fact that I’m not wearing foundation. All this time at home allows me to test and find products that WORK for me. Complete with rose water and starflower oil, the Laura Mercier skincare line has restored the essential balance that my skin needs, leaving it flawless. And, the exact regimen I am following is designed for oily skin. Read my full review below.

Laura Mercier Skincare Essentials Collection

Full Review: Laura Mercier Skincare Essentials

Over the years I’ve created a complete skincare routine filled with products I love. But, I’m always on the hunt for new fabulous finds (see what I mean here) that help combat my oily skin. And, this post is a perfect example of the reason why.

I’m SO excited to share the latest Laura Mercier skincare collection with you because it’s quickly become a go-to for me. Let me break down the products and how I use them below:

Cleanse your Skin

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I only wash my face at night and I almost always double cleanse. So, I’ve continued to use a cleansing balm (I rotate between a few), followed by this Balancing Foaming Cleanser. Just a small dollop of this goes a long way and covers your entire face. And, the texture is suuuper creamy (which is actually what I love most). Again, for my oily skin friends – this is WINNER. It strips out those oils, but doesn’t leave you dry.

The product line also includes a Micellar Water, which although I have, I haven’t tried yet. It’s just not a step I include in my routine.

Prep your Skin

Okay, okay! These next TWO products are my favorite from the collection. If you get anything, be sure it’s these two items.

First, let’s start with the Mattifying Oil-Free Moisturizer. Literally every product in my makeup routine is intended to give me a beautiful glow. It’s never once crossed my mind that I should use a mattifying moisturizer. But, IT WORKS! I use this every morning, normally 3-4 pumps so I can get my neck too. It’s water-based, so the formula is lightweight (not like a cream). The two key ingredients are honey (to calm the skin) and french lavender floral water. I’m about two-thirds through my bottle and will be re-ordering ASAP. This gets a 5 out of 5 for me.

Then, the Illuminating Eye Cream is simply incredible. There’s no other way to describe it. After my moisturizer, I normally use my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. Then, I apply this cream under my eyes. This sort of does it all – brightens, moisturizes and preps my face for concealer. To be honest, because of how it brightens my eye a lot of days I won’t even use concealer now. This is a must have for me. I’d compare it to the Tula eye balms, but this is far creamier (which works better for my skin). This is absolutely a 5 out 5 as well.

Treat your Skin

If you look on my bedroom nightstand you’ll always find a handful of lip products. So, naturally the first product I tried from the Laura Mercier skincare line was this hydrating lip balm. Apparently there’s some controvery around this product because it’s an updated formula. Having never tried the previous version, I can’t compare them! I like this one. But, I like something more waxy personally. So, I threw this one in my tote bag to use during the day on the go. I’d give this a 3 out of 5.

Lastly, I tried the Refining Creme Polish. This one was tough because the purpose of this product is to create a smoother surface for your makeup application. But, I’m barely leaving the house! That said, after just a few uses I can see how useful it would be. My dermatologist has always warned me to stay away from any gritty exfoliators. But, this one is gentle and effective. I could literally feel how the texture of my skin was softer and there was no redness afterward (like some other products). This would be great for before special events or family photos.

Like any product line, you have to really try each item for at least a month to get a sense of how it works for you. After six weeks of using this collection, I’m adding both the moisturizer and eye cream to my cult favs list. I’ve got a more natural glow now than ever before.
