M Gemi Bags Review

For nearly five years I’ve been a fan of M.Gemi shoes. I discovered them shortly after they launched and over that time they’ve easily earned the vast amount of shelf space they occupy on my shoe displays. So, when they announced they were releasing a small set of handbags, I immediately scoped out the collection. They were SO good, each bag sold out within 24 hours. Several colors of different styles are being restocked. But, the Lucia crossbody style that I’m wearing here is currently available. What makes them so highly coveted? I’ll get into that below, along with my full M Gemi bags review.

So, why am I so obsessed with this Italian-made brand that I mention them repeatedly (here and here for starters)? For one, it’s their brand mantra – “Italian luxuries for a modern life.” Essentially, you get the quality of a premium Italian-made shoe or bag, designed for the business of today’s lifestyle, at an amazing price. Additionally, they pride themselves on making 100% of their products in Italy with small and medium-sized artisan shops who learned their trade over generations. Maria Gangemi, Co-Founder of M Gemi, eloquently describes this as of the key differentiators for their company. Plus, with the exception of a few styles, most are limited release made only in small batches, giving a feeling of exclusivity to nearly every pair. I already love my Felize loafers and Esatto stilettos. I’m confident my new Lucia bag will get just as much wear.

M Gemi Bags Review

It came as no surprise to me that the new bags are incredibly well made (just like their shoes). Interestingly, the M Gemi bag collection was created because of the hardship of COVID-19. Again, the company worked with a small artisan in Italy to craft four perfect bags that are not only stunning, but also practical and made from high quality leathers. In my M Gemi bags review below Im sharing my favorite styles, their size, color options, price points and why I’m reaching for mine regularly.

Breaking Down the M Gemi Bag Collection

For their first foray into handbags, M Gemi unveiled four classic leather bags (with Nubuck and pebbled finishes) that you will love.

The Lucia Convertible Cross-Body Bag

The Lucia crossbody bag is the one I’m wearing above and I think the best part is the size. This is a great bag for running errands and truly takes you from day to night. The strap is actually detatchable so you can wear it as a clutch! The Nubuck leather looks like velvet or suede with a croco finish. So, it’s very luxe. It comes in 4 colors and mine is the oatmeal color. Measuring 2.9” Wide by 10.6” Tall by 6.5” Deep, this is slightly larger than your typical crossbody bag. The inside has leather lining too!

The Elena Tote Bag

SWOON! The Elena tote bag is beyond chic. While I absolutely love the bag I’m wearing, this bag is my favorite. M Gemi perfectly describes this bag as the everyday carryall and the size shows you why. It’s 15.7” Wide by 12” Tall by 7.8” Deep which in my opinion is big, but not overwhelming. This bag comes in five colors and has protective metal feet to keep it from getting dirty on the bottom. Plus, it’s expandable and features two open pockets and one bigger, zippered section. The only downfall? No zipper on top. I like that option, especially when traveling, to be sure you don’t lose anything.

The Carlotta Shoulder Bag

If you are in the market for an oversized bag, the Carlotta has you covered! This unstructured shoulder bag comes in three colors and is made from a super soft and lightweight leather. The top of the bag has an adjustable tie closure to keep everything protected and there are several pockets inside to organize your things. At 26” Tall by 17.7” Wide by 6” deep, this is the largest bag in the collection. Personally, while beautiful, this shape isn’t for me. But, I think it’s perfect for city girls who need something bigger while they’re on the go. Or, it could be a great diaper bag for a new mom!

The Gilda On-the-go Camera Bag

For ladies who love small bags – M Gemi didn’t leave you out! The Gilda camera bag is a versatile, small purse for just the essentials. Toss in your phone, keys, lipstick (and your hand sanitizer or wipes!) and you’re out the door. The interior of this bag also has a leather lining (such attention to details!) and measures 4.7” Wide by 6.7” Tall by 5.5” Deep.

Why I Love M Gemi Bags

M Gemi has done it again! First it was comfortable shoes like their loafers, then their classic leather sneakers and now their impeccable handbags. The brand continues to impress and provide high quality, Italian-made products at affordable prices.
