When I was younger, I’d print out photos by the album. I still have stacks of them from high school and college that document friendships, parties, graduations and more. But, then… a gap. What happened to my last 10+ years? I’ve sporadically thrown things together to remember special moments and certain vacations. Nowadays, we can snap away on our smart phones and captures the best moments of our days. But, then what? So many major moments have gone undocumented formally.

Enter Mixbook. Within minutes I found a template for a beautiful photo book I loved. Then… the best part! I could upload photos directly from my phone to the project! No need to transfer anything first to my desktop computer! Hallelujah! Within minutes, all my images were in a library ready to go. The easy-to-use editor let me drag and drop things where I wanted them, rearrange pages and change on-page text. In a few short hours, my album was complete. Mixbook helped me remember that my photos matter. They tell the story of my life.

Why Create a Photo Book?

So, I think a lot of people are probably thinking… “a lot of my memories live on Facebook. Why create a photo book?” I don’t know about you. But, the last time I went down memory lane in Facebook was years ago. It’s a great platform for storing photos, but it doesn’t give you a physical item you can put on your coffee table, night stand or shelf. From the minute I set our 2019 Year in Review Mixbook on our living room coffee table, I can’t tell you how many people have looked at it. They had NO idea we’d gone on a cruise or had Matt’s family in town for Spring Break. Our guests were able to relive those moments with us through our album.

Building Your Photo Book is Easy

Honestly, getting started is the hardest part because they have so many designs that you’ll love. But, once you select your template you’re off to the races. And, Mixbook’s editing tool is just so simple to use. They suggest copy for different pages of your book, but it’s easy to edit and update. The layouts are the perfect starting point for determining how many photos you’ll need to complete the book. But, you can also add more pages. Also, you can rearrange the pages (which I did several times while creating our book!).

Then, you can preview your project to see how it will look before purchasing. There are a handful of options for the cover (soft, matte, glossy or leather) and the paper type you use for printing. But, overall it’s an easy step-by-step process that’s very smooth.

And, I’m SO happy with the end result! I’ll likely start a tradition of doing one book per year, with additional photo books of big trips. And, I may create a photo calendar of Jackson too! Wouldn’t that be cute!?
