7 Fashion Trends for Spring

Spring has sprung and I am personally so excited for the season. It’s time to switch up your heavy knits for some lightweight materials like linen and cottons and raise up those hemlines as the temperatures rise. Trends are always evolving, and this year is no different. I’m outlining my favorite 7 fashion trends for Spring in today’s post. And,I don’t mean the ones you won’t wear. But, the ones you’ll embrace. Some trends, like puff sleeves, are here to stay (yessss). And others, like light wash denim and strappy sandals always seem to come back around this time of year. Then, other trends like knit sets are a by-product of COVID-19. Don’t worry. We still get our sweat suits and loungewear! We just need to substitute the pants for shorts.

7 Fashion Trends for Spring

Often times, current trends are influenced by what’s happened in the year before. So, with many of us at home for the last 12 months, we haven’t had a need to get dressed up. That’s why we’ll see knit sets remain popular for months to come. They’re cute, comfortable and still on trend! Other trends tend to recirculate year after year. For example, crochet details always seem to pop back up in March and April. And, after the darker fall and winter months, we’re all aching to break out the light denim. This straight leg pair by Agolde is on major repeat for me lately!

7 Fashion Trends for Spring

If we’re being honest, the last year for fashion is a blur. Sure, my closet gained a bunch of oversized sweatshirts, leggings and matching lounge sets that were much needed at the time. But, as we move into a new normal some of that laid back vibe will carryover, with relaxed tailoring and stylish face masks being the two that immediately come top of mind. I, for one, am ready to show a little leg and throw on a pair of (low) heels again. So, with that, I’ll take you through my favorite 7 fashion trends for Spring.

Puff Sleeves

At the very top of my list for Spring are puff sleeves. It doesn’t matter if it’s a top or a dress, puff sleeves always have a place in my wardrobe. I am obsessed with this top by from Shopbop. It’s by a brand named Wayf that has really affordable pieces. This puff sleeve bow top from Cinq a Sept was a splurge. But, I know I will get a ton of use out of it. And, this dress and this dress also just made my way into my cart.

You can easily style any of these tops with my favorite light wash denim below. Or, you can also throw on your go-to shorts for Spring with flats, sneakers or a pair of strappy heels. Longer shorts are my vibe, so these are what I recommend (I wear a size 28 and they do stretch a bit).

There are so many cute finds for Spring under $100 I’m sure you’ll love!

7 Fashion Trends for Spring | Light wash denim

Light Wash Denim

In Fall and Winter I regularly reach for my darker wash denim. But, my second fashion trend for Spring that I embrace is light wash denim. Two of my most-worn pairs are these and these. The first are perfect for the office since they have no rips or distressing. Then, the latter are by Citizens of Humanity – one of my all-time favorite denim brands. They are both true to size.

The Agolde pair are styled above here and I just love the fit. For an affordable option, you can’t go wrong with this pair of 501 Skinnys by Levis. Gen Z may say they’re out, but I respectfully disagree. You can SHOP all my picks below.

Strappy Sandals spring outfit

Strappy Sandals

You legitimately can’t get through Spring without a pair of strappy sandals. Of course, the ones I’m wearing above are neutral with this pretty nude color going with everything that I own. You can get 20% OFF these with code LTD2103. But, I’m also loving the floral details on these. This pair with clear straps became popular a few years ago now and will absolutely be seen again this season.

When it comes to heeled sandals, I tend to favor styling them with midi or maxi dresses. But, you can wear them with shorts too. I’d just be sure that the inseam is longer!

Slide Sandals

Slide Sandals

Another HOT fashion trend for spring are slide sandals. Last year I splurged on the Chloe slides (above) and I’m thrilled to see they’re back again for this year! NOTE: They are not the most comfortable pair I own. But, they are chic!

Perhaps the most exciting style for Spring are woven sandals. My sites were set on these, but they’re quite pricey, So, I recently purchased this pair instead and can’t wait for them to arrive.

Knit Sets loungewear

Knit Sets

Like I mentioned above, your knits and loungewear aren’t going anywhere. The only change you need to make for Spring is to move to lighter materials and shorts instead of pants! I’ve been living in this neutral set and this leopard print pair by Heartloom for a few weeks now. They’re ultra-soft and cozy.

Last year I stocked up on a few simple knit tops like this one. It’s so easy to pair with shorts or jeans and a army jacket for a casual look.

Of course, I’m swooning over all things Ulla Johnson, like this top. She is basically Queen of Knitwear and cottagecore. I always recommend to make a few investment purchases each season that you know you’ll wear for years. Anything from her collection is a good idea.

Crochet Details

Then, there are all the crocheted looks going down the virtual runways for Spring. We’re talking full-length dresses from the likes of Valentino, Ulla Johnson and more. But, the trend doesn’t have to be that bold. If you’re thinking you may look like your grandmother made your top – that’s the point! So, dip your toe into it with a cardigan or a top like this one or this one first.

What I love about crochet is how it adds texture to your look. Paired with simple shorts or a denim skirt, it really elevates your look but doesn’t take a lot of thought to put the outfit together.

You’ll see a lot of crochet and lace together, which makes for a stunning feminine look. When paired with any of the sandals I included above, it really creates the perfect Spring outfit. Or, if you’re really on the fence the easiest way to try the crochet trend is with a bag like this one. I bought this style last year and cannot wait to start using it again!

Stylish Face Masks

The last of my 7 fashion trends for Spring are stylish face masks. Wearing a face mask for the foreseeable future is still a fact of life. So, let’s make sure we have some chic options! This 3-pack for $12.99 are still my favorites. But, for a more dressed up look I love the silk ones by Slip.

Normally, I would say that Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons. But, this year I’m particularly excited about Spring. Sure… the thought of putting on regular clothes is fun right now. More importantly, the retail sites are packed with things I want to wear. There are so many cool neutrals that fit with my standard style. Most of what I’m eyeing doesn’t feel like a trend, but rather what I’d wear normally. And, that’s just how I like it.
