Not sure what a smocked dress is? A quick search on Nordstrom will get you more than 200 results. Last year the smocked trend made a big comeback and earned its place in many designers collections. But, it’s not like what you might be used to from the 90’s where it was mostly stretchy tube tops. Instead, smocked dresses reappeared with a romantic vibe (so my style). From mini dresses like the one I’m wearing (similar here) to boho style frocks, I discovered that smocked dresses work for every body type.

The Truth about Smocked Dresses

The thing is, I’ve always been scared that all those pleats that make up the smocking in this style would only accentuate my curves and make me look bulky. But, that was the biggest misconception. See, the style does accentuate your body. But, it’s in a soft way that’s flattering. Plus, the stretchy fabric is far more forgiving than any body-con style (which I don’t wear for that reason).
