How has it been two months since our trip?! I still have so many pictures and tips to share for traveling in Greece, like some of our favorite restaurants in Santorini. I just didn’t want to go crazy and overwhelm you posting everything all in a row. One of the best parts of Santorini is wandering through the hillside and discovering delicious places to eat along the way! The Best Restaurants In Santorini

The food on our trip was outstanding. I expected the restaurants in Santorini to be the most expensive of the three cities we visited, but Santorini actually offered the cheapest meals (Mykonos was the most expensive).

Athermi Cafe Restaurant

On the night we got engaged, Matt made reservations at a spot with arguably one of the best views of the caldera – Athermi Cafe Restaurant. It’s not up in the hillside of Imerovigli where we stayed, or in the crowded town of Oia (read this post to see which restaurant we ate at there). Instead, you’ll find it in the small town of Megalochori. It’s a 20 minute drive or so from were we stayed at the Honeymoon Petra Villas.

The night we dined there, it was mostly families at the tables nearby. To me, that’s what was so appealing. Athermi was truly a local eatery. The hummus was out of this world (yes, we totally got hummus at every place we ate). I opted for one of the Italian dishes on the menu and ordered the parmesean pesto risotto. It. Was. Delicious. The portion was HUGE! We ordered a bottle of red wine and watched the last remaining bit of the sunset. It made for a really memorable meal.

Travel tip: I highly recommend getting out of the touristy area of the major city you’re in when traveling to take in local joints (like Athermi).

Mezzo

On our last night in town, we aimlessly walked the hillside in Imerovigli and stumbled upon Mezzo. It is one of the yummiest restaurants in Santorini. The ambiance is top-notch. You get yet another amazing view of the sunset and it and overlooks Skaros Rock. [Side note: if you have time to hike Skaros, I think it would make for some great pictures and a wonderful time. We had been at wineries all day our last day in Santorini. So we didn’t think a hike afterward was such a good idea!] That night really showed what Santorini nights are like.

At Mezzo, I ordered the crispy prosciutto salad that had walnuts and strawberries in a balsamic glaze dressing (below). Next to our dessert at Ambrosia in Oia, it as my favorite dish in Santorini. For my main course, I had the pork in vinsanto sauce and Matt had a linguine with beef and mushrooms (below) that he LOVED.

Travel Tip: I try to remind myself to grab a business card from the restaurants I eat at when I travel. You never know when you’ll end up with friends or family who plan a trip and want recommendations!

If you get a chance to try Athermi or Mezzo, let me know what you think!
