Everything you Need for the Perfect Girls Day at the Beach

With all the hustle and bustle in life, making time for a girl’s day is something I truly look forward to. It’s definitely a form of self-care in my book. Your best girls should both lift you up to encourage you and ground you (so you keep it real). So, after my first awesome experience at the Spa at Auberge Beach, my girl Caitlin from Sauci Style pointed out their membership option that give you access to their private beach and spa. We decided to check it out and made plans to catch some sun and catch up over bubbly one Saturday morning. Of course, we had to document how fabulous it is for you guys too!

Everything you Need for the Perfect Girls Day at the Beach

The Health Benefits of a Girl’s Day at Beach

It’s possible I’ve been watching too many episodes of Big Little Lies, but lately all I want to do is hang out at the beach. When Matt and I can’t sleep at night, we use a sound machine with wave noises. There’s just something so peaceful about it. Being a natural born Floridan, perhaps it’s just that I’m a beach baby at heart!

So, it makes sense that the Spa offers memberships for the summer right now. Just like getting a massage is a form of therapy, there are a ton of other benefits of spending some time at the beach. There’s the fact that you get some Vitamin D from the sun (be sure to keep your exposure to a moderate level, k?). But, the sand is also a natural exfoliant too. See ya dead skin cells from wearing too many great pairs of heels! Okay, but for real – the sun has proven to decrease depression too. I’m not necessarily prone to depression myself. But, with so many things going on these days (new house, trying to have a baby, some job changes), I have been stressed. Getting outside with your toes in the sand is good for your mind, body and soul.

What to Bring to the Beach

What to Bring to the Beach

Looking back, I did a pretty decent job of sharing 5 must haves you need for a great pool party. I wouldn’t say the beach is terribly different. But, there are a few other items you’ll want to bring.

Sunscreen

Make no ifs, ands or buts about it, protecting your skin is the cool thing to do. I’m partial to Sunbum (smells sooooo good!). Matt is hooked now too. Be sure whatever you buy is at least SPF 30.

Beach towels

The Spa will give you towels, but I always like to bring my own too. These striped towels from Anthropologie are on sale and so chic.

Delicious snacks

You’ll inevitably want to nibble on something while you girl gab with your babes. I like to bring a few different types of fruit with me to the beach or a bag of chips or pretzels.

Adult beverages

Aside from hydrating with water, pack a bottle of bubbly! If you’re feeling fancy, you can make some mimosas.

A fabulous hat

Remember, hats hide bad hair days. And while the beach is gorgeous, it’s also windy. I always pack a great hat, like this black one by Lack of Colour.

My Go-To Beachwear

When it comes to coverup’s, I like something breezy in a gauze or cotton material. So, I paired this Free People top with an old white skirt from Old Navy (similar here) and it was perfect.

I brought two suits (because, why not?) since it was a little rainy and cold in the morning. To say I’m obsessed with this long-sleeve top from Montce is an understatement. It also doubles as a crop top. Then, I grabbed these high-rise bottoms (which are so flattering).

I won’t say that my day’s of bikinis are behind me, but I love a great one piece swimsuit. This floral off-the-shoulder suit from Beach Riot is different from a lot of suits I’ve seen and like nothing that I have. So, it’s a nice addition to my swim collection.

Summer Membership at the Spa at Auberge Beach

Aside from catching up with the girls and all the laughs we had that day, I loved that the beach was private. It was quiet, uncrowded and peaceful. Nowadays, that’s just hard to come by.

If you live in or are visiting Fort Lauderdale, I highly recommend making a point to check out the membership option to just relax to the sounds of the sea with friends or your spouse and kids.

*Thank you to the Spa at Auberge Beach for hosting us. I received a complimentary pass to the beach. But, as always – all opinions are my own.
