How to Style a Teddy Bear Coat

The teddy bear coat is 2017’s favorite jacket with it’s furry, sherpa, and shearling details that are popping up at every brand, including Topshop, Free People, Anthropologie, and more. It’s every fashion IT girl’s uniform right now to grab a teddy coat and throw it over an easy knit, distressed denim and combat boots. But, how can you make it work for you?

The best news is that anyone can get their hands on a teddy coat this season. With lots of options to pick from, prices range from $50 to $500. Some of the chicest ones are on the less expensive side, like this one and this one.

The simple way to wear this coat is to grab your favorite pair of denim, add a turtleneck and ankle booties.  This is pretty much my winter style uniform that makes getting dressed effortless in the mornings.

But, for an edgier look try pairing it with these faux moto leggings, this sweater and these boots. The key is to balance the boxy coat with slim pants so the look stays flattering to your body.

An extra benefit? Unlike a fitted wool coat, the style runs oversized which means its great to hide those extra pounds we tend to gain with between Thanksgiving and Christmas (I keep saying I’m going to lay off the eggnog).
