Fall Transitional Style – Wayf Gingham Top

A Glam Lifestyle blogger wears Wayf gingham top with AG jeans white legging jeans and nude Steve Madden sandals and nude Celine Belt bag The biggest question I’ve been asked lately is how to transition your wardrobe between Summer and Fall. While there have been some unseasonally warm days this month where it seems like we can hop back into our shorts, a typical October starts to remind us that it’s almost time to break out our sweaters and coats! But, let’s take these last hot days as good news! Don’t pack away your off the shoulder or short sleeve tops just yet. Just do what I did with this Wayf gingham top (sold out, but love this one) and pair them with your favorite pair of denim instead of shorts or skirts. Then, piles on some fun accessories like a great scarf.

Fall Transitional Style Tips

Let’s be honest – it’s possible I’m not the best person to write this post. I live in an area where it’s pretty warm all year round and even in this look I’m not practicing what I preach! But, since I travel pretty frequently (I average 1-2 times per month, sometimes more) I figured I would share some of my tips for these awkward Fall days when it thinks it’s still Summer.

Tip # 1  – It’s All About the Layers

It might seem unnatural to keep wearing off-the-shoulder tops, but as long as the sleeves are longer, I say it’s fine. Until it’s officially coat weather, I say keep ’em in rotation. I’ve been crushing on tops from Wayf since earlier this year and I’m loving this checked style and this floral one-shoulder number. Then, pile on a layer! This affordable moto jacket (under $100!) would look adorable with either of these tops and a pair of distressed denim. I just finally broke down and ordered these.

Tip # 2 – Bring on the Scarves!

For some reason, I typically purchase accessories late in the season when most sizes of what I want to buy are gone and I’m stuck with the leftovers. This year I decided to change that and already bought 3 scarves! Zara has been SO GOOD lately. I bought this pinky-nude colored one, this checked one and this super soft camel one. My fave fringed scarf (last seen here) is already back in stock for this season at Nordstrom too. It comes in 5 colors.

Tip # 3 – Break Out the Booties!

A killer pair of booties is a must-have in your closet and this year is no exception. It seems like it’s the season of the ankle bootie. I’ve already found my pair of the season, which are grey suede and hit a little higher on the ankle (I first shared them here). If you prefer a lower heel, then try these from Sam Edelman. Those are my MVP!
