NYFW Recap: Paul Andrew Shoes Presentation

Paul Andrew shoes Fall Winter collection viewed by Amanda from A Glam Lifestyle during NYFWDuring NYFW I had the opportunity to attend a preview of the Paul Andrew shoes collection and honestly – I was blown away. Each pair are chic and elegant art for your feet. There’s simply no other way to describe them. The fact that Paul Andrew isn’t a household name (or in my closet yet) is shocking. He’s been at the helm of fashion houses like Narciso Rodriquez, Donna Karan and Alexander McQueen to name a few. So, when I walked into that loft in New York City and viewed the Fall/Winter collection, I knew I had to share all the details with you.

Mind blown, amiright?! Paul Andrew shoes are just so stunning. Yes… I’ll admit that a few don’t seem made for everyday wear. But, those that are more elaborate would absolutely be a statement piece with a classic LBD. Since my outfits have been following my “neutral is chic” attitude, I’ve been having more fun with my accessories and shoe styling. Those bright red booties in the first picture above are my pick for best in show. Perhaps it was the gorgeous view of the city in the window behind them that set the stage for their perfection, but that ankle wrap strap and pointed toe just bring it home. I hovered for more than was appropriate around the classic black booties with a wooden bottom and then the ones with the gold bottoms just took my breath away.

After I went home, I beelined for my computer to search for places I could buy a pair immediately. Right now I’m torn between the velvet slingbacks and these blush ankle-wrap espadrilles.

What’s the Difference Between a Presentation and a Show at NYFW?

If you noticed, I called this event a presentation because there is a distinct difference between the two. A show involves the famous catwalk – the runway that models strut down wearing the 30 or so looks from the upcoming collection. In a presentation, the models are more stationary and pose for a longer time on a designed set. My personal preference? A presentation every time. Not the answer you expected, right? The shows are thrilling. Don’t get me wrong. The music can be great and the lighting hits the garments and makes them sparkle. It’s a little piece of fashion heaven…

But, there’s the time waiting around in line to get into the show beforehand and then the time waiting for it to start (and they’re next to never on time). Then, the whole thing is over in less than 10 minutes. At a presentation, it feels more intimate and you have more time to really look at the pieces much more closely than even if you were front row at a show. Plus, the venues for the presentations are normally gorgeous!
