I’ve been talking a lot lately about defining my style and developing a unique sense of fashion perspective. Being at the shows and in the winter magic that surrounded New York City last week confirmed to me that much more that I’m headed in the right direction. I wore this easy burgundy sweater dress (in grey and black here) in Greenwich Village and played in the snow a bit! Get the full outfit details below.

NYFW Inspiration

Getting to fashion week was no small feat when that snowstorm came through. I thought I was magically getting lucky when my flight left Miami bright and early Thursday morning only to get redirected to D.C. for the day before finally getting into New York at 8 p.m. that night. But, I didn’t let that unfortunate series of events get me down because the second I was in the city all I saw was beauty around me.

The snow hadn’t melted yet and everyone was bundled up. The winter style was just so good.  From the abundance of faux fur and shearling jackets to the adorable sweater dresses and over the knee boots – everyone brought their A Game to fashion week.

I’ve only gone to NYFW the last two seasons, but I’ve been visiting the city since college. Some people think it’s a concrete jungle – I’m not one of those people. Walking in the different neighborhoods with their distinct characteristics is my favorite. It inspires me. In my opinion, Greenwich Village (and the West Village in particular) is best. The cafes and bars are so cute. I grabbed breakfast at Sweet Corner Bakeshop. Then, in between the shows, we ate at Amity Hall. They have the best beer menu (so my thing) and even though the menu is small – it was all delicious. Try the buffalo chicken sandwich if you make it there.

A Great Burgundy Sweater Dress

For my stroll through the Village and my second look at Fashion Week, I wore this burgundy sweater dress (shirt version here). I’m loving anything that’s wine colored or bordeaux. I’ve been trying to buy things that are high-quality but affordable and this dress definitely fits into that category (also love this one with a cutout and this one that’s less than $40!). I’m considering getting it in the grey color here too. On it’s own the dress was cute, but I wore the Gucci belt you’ve probably seen on so many bloggers already over it to give it a little edge. I put on my MGemi Pendolo boots that pretty much never left my feet and that kept me warm the whole day.

Do you have a favorite part of the city or other parts you think I should explore next time I’m in town? I’d love your recommendations!
