Classic J Crew Puffer Coat

Classic J Crew Puffer Coat styled by top FL fashion blogger, A Glam LifestyleHappy Friday lovelies! I remember a few years ago being in Chicago for a meeting, seeing all of these people wearing puffer coats. And, I thought to myself – I don’t know that I like those. Wool coats had always been my warm outerwear choice. Puffer coats felt frumpy and unflattering. Fast forward to three years later. I just bought a black puffer coat for the season from JCrew (currently 40% OFF with code MUSTSHOP), and I absolutely love it. I don’t know how they do it. But, the designers managed to make the coat slimming and I don’t feel like a fluffball in it either. I guess fashion is funny that way. Your style evolves. Your tastes change. You buy things you said you wouldn’t (or thought weren’t for you) and they become your new favorite.

How to Style your J Crew Puffer Coat

The great news is that a black puffer coat will go with nearly everything. Black is a chic, timeless color as far as I’m concerned, and this jacket has two features that I absolutely love. Firstly, it has a hood. Some people may not like them, but I love them. Why? Because it keeps your head protected and warm if you wear this while it’s snowing (or raining, which may be more likely this year). Secondly, it has a belt at the waist that you can tie cutely in a bow (see pics above)! My body type is fairly straight and for those of you who are shaped like me – you know we need to nip things in at the waist when we can to give ourselves more definition.

I wore this puffer while we were up in Illinois visiting Matt’s family this past week for the holidays and it was exactly what I needed. I paired it with this soft sweater tunic I got at Nordstrom that I now feel I need in at least two other colors (its available in 9 and is only $89!). Though it’s made of mostly wool, it’s 30% cashmere and that makes a huge difference.

Another must-have from this look is this tan fringed scarf! It’s under $50! Winter accessories are the perfect way to change up your look without having to purchase a ton of new items. One new jacket and one new scarf will go with a bunch of different looks and make them all feel like new.

Hopefully you all have fabulous plans for this first weekend of our New Year! If you haven’t had a chance to check out my New Year’s style resolutions, you can read them here. I’ll be spending some time catching up with friends this weekend which I’m really looking forward to.
