If you’re an art lover, you would have loved to tag along with me and Donna from On the DL Lifestyle this past weekend. Down in Miami Beach, I took in the amazingness that is Art Basel for the first time. It’s an art festival, unique in its own way because it’s spread out over miles of hotels and events, that’s been taking place since 1970 in Basel, Hong Kong and Miami Beach. Not having been before, I dressed in an easy blush Ramy Brook dress with wedges I also wore to our wedding events in Napa. We hopped from venue to venue and had a blast!

What is Art Basel?
Art Basel is essentially a mass display of modern and contemporary art that happens in a few key cities each year. There’s so much on exhibit in the Miami Beach area that they also now showcase a myriad of artists in the Wynwood area too. Most of the major hotels have events, but the tents in Wynwood and the Design District are where you want to be if you’re seriously into art. The festival starts early in the week and goes through Sunday. So, it’s hard to take it all in if you’ve got a 9 – 5 gig like me. You can honestly make a vacation out of the events and parties that go on every night.
What to wear in Miami Beach in December
Since the fair is held in Miami in December it throws most people for a loop as to what to wear. But, the weather is nearly 80 degrees, so it gives most people a break from the Fall temps that have hit the Northern states! Two of the events that I went to were hosted at the 1 Hotel South Beach which is my favorite property in Miami. I dressed with a beach vibe in my flowy blush dress and threw a faux suede tan moto jacket over my shoulders. While it was appropriate for the scene, the wind in Miami can be a pain in the you know what. I think next time I’ll wear frayed shorts and flats to fit the vibe even more so.
