I’m interrupting this regularly scheduled holiday content to bring you more details about our dreamy honeymoon at the St Regis Bora Bora Resort. The first thing you need to know if you’re considering a honeymoon in Bora Bora is that the best time to go is during what they call the Shoulder Season (which includes April, May and November). It’s when the island is between seasons and less touristy. If you want to know how we selected the luxurious St Regis Bora Bora Resort, why you should consider it for your honeymoon, and what I packed – keep reading!

Why we picked the St Regis Bora Bora Resort

There are a handful of five star hotel properties in Bora Bora. We primarily went back and forth between the St Regis and the Four Seasons. After reading reviews on sites like Trip Advisor and Expedia, we decided on the St Regis. The driving factor being that it’s more for couples. The Four Seasons is known as a child-friendly resort. While we definitely want our own kids in the future, we wanted to be with more adults during our five day stay. I read on some sites that the only resort that picks up guests at the airport upon arrival from Tahiti is the Four Seasons. That’s simply not true.

Our experience at Lagoon Restaurant

Of all the restaurants at the St Regis, Lagoon was our favorite. A solid travel tip is to book your reservations ahead of your arrival. Since we were there in the shift of the seasons, we didn’t have too tough of a time getting a reservation at sunset right next to the water (see picture above and below). I can only imagine during the busy months. Watching the sun set over Mount Otemanu draped our whole night in romance. It was our last meal before we left Bora Bora. So, we went all out with the pre-set five course menu! It doesn’t seem adequate enough to tell you that my tuna appetizer was one of the best I’ve ever had. Even Matt – who hates sushi! – loved it. We both had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. After indulging in cheesecake with raspberry sorbet that melted in my mouth, you practically had to roll me back to our overwater bungalow.

What to wear (to dinner) in Bora Bora

If we’re being honest, I was mostly in my bikini all day, lounging at the pool and swimming in the ocean. But, at night I loved getting dolled up for dinner with my new hubby! Red was a dominant color in my outfits. First I wore this sexy off the shoulder dress and then this red floral maxi dress (coveting this style now too). Before we left on the trip I sought out a dress that would have a lot of movement to it and this fit that requirement perfectly.

Disclaimer: By the time I got back this exact dress had sold out! If I see it’s restocked, I’ll be sure to update this post!
