BEST LOOKS OF THE 2015 MET GALA

Best looks of the 2015 Met Gala, 2015 Met Gala fashionFilm awards season has come and gone, but the Met Gala always gives budding fashionista’s something to look forward to come May. This year’s event didn’t disappoint. From Beyonce’s sheer Givenchy gown to Kerry Washington’s bow-tastic pink Prada, I’m calling out my favorite looks of the ball here.

My list of the best dressed at this year’s Met Ball was tough to nail down. The theme was “China: Through the Looking Glass.” To tie into the theme, one of the most glaring trends were the various shades of red on the carpet (ruby, candy apple, scarlet and oxblood).

BEST LOOKS OF THE 2015 MET GALA

Of course, there were so many beauties. But, the Queen Bee took the top spot in my book. I challenge you to look away once you set eyes on her daring, sheer Givenchy number.

Clockwise from top left:

1. Beyonce in Givenchy
2. Kerry Washington in Prada
3. Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture
4. Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy
5. Lizzy Tisch in Erdem
6. Keri Russell in Altuzarra

Other notable mentions go to Kim Kardashian in that gorgeous Roberto Cavalli, Carey Mulligan in Balenciaga, and Poppy Delevigne in Marchesa.

2015 Met Gala fashion

It was undeniable how similar Beyonce and Kim’s looks were to each other. But, being stars in their own right and in their own ways – they each owned the night, in my opinion. Beyonce brought in the Spring floral effect, while Kim stuck to the white trend we see her do so well and so often.

So, how do rock the same look for less? I find this For Love & Lemons sheer dress to be quite similar. It comes in both red and white and will give you that ultra sheer look.

When it came to bright florals, my heart skipped a beat at the Erdem dress that Lizzy Tisch chose. She complemented the gown with an updo and a pair of crystal fan earrings that put the finishing touch on her look. The recent Milly for Kohl’s collection has a bright floral pencil dress and a fit and flare dress option that will achieve the same effect. They’re made out of scuba material, so they’re stretchy and very flattering.

If you’re looking to do the direction of Poppy Delevingne, try this Rebecca Taylor floral organza dress.

Lastly, if you’re longing to recreate some style a la Kerry Washington, try this pink exaggerated frill dress from ASOS.

There were some great red carpet looks earlier in the year at the SAG Awards and Oscar’s, but the 2015 Met Gala fashion stole the show this year for me.

What did you think? Who were your favorites?
